As I am writing this message, I realize this summer is coming to an official end on September 21st. Doesn’t Time fly? Regardless of our few really good days this year, I hope you all enjoyed a great summer season with lots of beach time, BBQ and just being with friends and family.
Everybody who joined us for this year’s Summer Bash at 230 Fifth’s Rooftop in August has to admit that we had a great time. No rain and certainly seasonal temperatures prevailed for networking and enjoying the wonderful skyline.
Then there was our now famous series This is Our City in early September that drew close to 200 participants for an outrageous private event at the new Yankee Stadium.
And last, but certainly not least, there was our outstanding GM/VP Panel at B. B. King’s on September 16th “Doing More with Less”…great ideas, humorous panelists and good audience participation.
Now, there are only two luncheons left for 2009…can the Christmas shopping season be far behind?
You certainly don’t want to miss our October 7th program at The Pierre Hotel when we will revisit Social Media – Twitter, Flickr, HELP!!! 18 months later…how has this landscape changed? What’s around the corner? If you’re not in it, how to start? If you’re in it, how can you maximize your presence? What is the ROI? Our keynote speaker will be John Lustina, an acclaimed expert in the field, who will also be providing “tip sheets’ for all attendees. You will really enjoy this program – that, I can promise.
Also, please mark your calendars for our November 4th program: “Emerging Markets and International Trends for 2010” at the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel.
But, for now, I am looking very much forward to seeing all of you at The Pierre on October 7th.
In the meantime, be safe and all the best,
Markus

The Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI has created an Unemployment Assistance Bailout Program to help those members who have recently lost their jobs and need to stay connected to HSMAI members at this crucial time in their careers. These members will be able to attend up to three programs for free and pay 1/2 price for all other programs during the year as long if they continue to remain unemployed during 2009. At the same time, ALL Greater New York Chapter members will be able to select from one of two FREE seminars ($35 value) to compensate for the recent dues increase which was approved by the HSMAI Americas Board. While all Greater New York Chapter members must pay their annual dues, 70% goes directly to HSMAI Americas Headquarters, which supports the membership with publications such as the Marketing Review, online research and information and a variety of educational programs and webinars. “It is the intention of the Greater New York Chapter Board of Directors to see that our membership, which happens to be the largest Chapter, stays connected, even if we have to support that with our very own bailout program,” said Markus Boeker of Orbitz, newly installed president of the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI.
